PAPEREX 2007 - POST SHOW REPORT

The recently concluded, 8th edition of the International Trade Fair & Technical Conference on Pulp, Paper and conversion Industry held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during Dec.7 – Dec.10, 2007, was an Astounding Success.

Paperex 2007 attracted 32,429 trade visitors and 325 delegates at the concurrent conference with a total presence from 41 countries, clearly confirming Paperex as the global meeting place and Asia's largest paper show on pulp & paper industry.

The Trade Event was represented by 382 Exhibitors from 26 Countries covering a gross area of around 15,000 sq.mt. While the conference had 325 Delegates and speakers from 11 countries. The general opinion from the industry professionals was that Paperex 2007 by FAR surpassed their expectations in the size of the show, the facilities at the show and the number and quality of visitors. The only complaint the Exhibitors had was that they were Too! Too! busy. The aisles were crowded, the stands were busy and MUCH business was being conducted. Even the last day of the show when people normally start winding up early, the visitor kept thronging and the floor was busy.

The event was inaugurated by Hon'ble Minister of State, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, Shri Mohd. Ali Ashraf Fatmi and the Keynote Address was delivered by Mr. John P. Harison, Vice President, TAPPI. The who's who from the Paper Industry was present on the day first of the Event.

An excellent conference with the theme “Pulp, Paper & Allied Industry by 2020” was favourably received by the delegates. The Participants included from a wide range of positions from Mill Owners, Presidents and Vice Presidents etc. of large companies. The 3 days Conference included 34 interesting and informative presentations on management, markets, technical and operational issues impacting the business.

For the first time, a one day National Seminar on “Marketing Potential and Export Opportunities for Indian Handmade Paper Industry” was organized by Akhil Bhartiya Gramudyog Mahasangh in technical support with the Kumarappa National Handmade Paper Institute (KNHPI) sponsored by Directorate of Marketing, KVIC, Mumbai.
